The left/right axis is based on economic issues, the liberal/conservative on social issues.

1 Centre Party (Keskusta)
2 Social Democratic Party (Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue)
3 National Coalition Party (Kansallinen Kokoomus)
4 Left Alliance (Vasemmistoliitto)
5 Green League (VihreƤ liitto)
6 Christian Democrats (Kristillisdemokraatit)
7 Swedish People's Party (Svenska folkpartiet)
8 True Finns (Perussuomalaiset)
It should be noted that some parties' support is spread more widely than others'. Examples of parties with a diverse lot of supporters are the three most centrist parties, the Centre, the Social Democrats, and the Swedish PP. True Finn supporters are all over the map in their economic opinions and the National Coalition Party voters and politicians display quite a bit of variance on the liberal/conservative axis.
That's a very interesting contraption. It's funny, I doodled a similar one the other day just for the hell of it. You have a very interesting blog here, keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteYay, it's my first comment! ... Ahem.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your feedback, valued reader.
Actually, you have some things wrong:
ReplyDelete#1. Conservatism isn't supposed to be there. It's Authoritarianism.
#2 Switch the places of "Conservatism" and "Liberalism" and you'll get a correct compass.
#3 You went a little extreme on some of the parties.
I have a correct link to the compass here:http://www.politicalcompass.org/charts/crowdgraphpng.php?showform=&Coalation=4.5%2C-1.9&Left+Alliance=-5.2%2C-4.7&Greens=-3.1%2C-3.7&Finns=0.2%2C4.3&Christian+Democrats=3.6%2C5.6&Social+Democrats=-2.2%2C-6.4&The+Center=-0.2%2C0.0&Communist+Party+Of+Finland=-7.4%2C-7.8&Communist+Party+Of+Finland=on&National+Socialists=0.9%2C9.2&newname=&newec=&newsoc=
My link didn't work...
